Key Features

PM Capital

PM Capital Limited, founded in 1998 by its Chief Investment Officer and Chairman, Paul Moore, is a globally-focussed fund manager that manages money on behalf of private clients, the clients of financial advisers and institutions. PM Capital’s goal is to build long-term wealth by investing in global markets with patience and conviction. It has won numerous awards for its investment performance. PM Capital provides an opportunity for clients to invest alongside its investment team, which has a significant investment in its managed products. In fact, most of the products managed by PM Capital began as ways to invest the firm’s own capital. This ensures an alignment of interest with investors. We believe in always acting and investing independently, with integrity and in the best interests of our co-investors - even if that means respectfully disagreeing with the rest of the market. We offer a number of concentrated strategies for investors looking to take advantage of opportunities that many investors may overlook.

How your super account works

FirstChoice Personal Super is an accumulation super fund. This means that each member has an account balance with money flowing in and out of the account.

When a contribution is made to your account, the contribution is used to purchase units in your chosen option. For example, if you make a contribution of $100 and the entry unit price for your chosen option is $1.00, then you will receive 100 units.

The value of your units may fluctuate due to the receipt of investment income and/or changes in the value of the underlying assets held in each option (except for FirstRate products, where the number of units changes as a result of the payment of interest). The unit price you receive may also be affected by other factors such as the payment of tax and other fund costs from the assets of the fund. Other costs that relate specifically to you, such as the payment of insurance premiums, adviser service fees or licensee service fees, may also be deducted from your account via the withdrawal of units. This means that your account balance can fluctuate on a daily basis depending on market movements, the costs of running the fund and any expenses that relate specifically to your account.

How your pension account works

When you commence your pension, you are issued units in the investment option(s) you select. The value of units fluctuates as a result of changes in the value of the underlying assets or as a result of costs reflected in the unit price (except for the FirstRate options, which are deposits with the Bank and the value changes as a result of the payment of interest). This means that your account balance can fluctuate on a daily basis depending on the value of the units which you hold in your account.

The unit price you receive is the unit price which applies on the day we receive a completed request, provided the request is received before 3pm, Sydney time, on any NSW business day.

How we invest your money

The money in your investment option is invested across a range of assets. The option aims to provide long-term capital growth and outperform the greater of the MSCI World Index or the Reserve Bank of Australia cash rate after fees and taxes over rolling seven-year periods. The goal of the option is not to replicate the standard industry benchmarks such as the MSCI, and it is likely to have varied outcomes from those of a traditional index benchmarked option.

Investment strategy

The option invests in approximately 25 to 45 stock-specific ideas diversified across global markets. The portfolio may also own interest bearing debt securities. All the portfolio positions are subject to intensive research and peer group review. PM Capital can use derivatives and sell stocks short as a risk management tool. The level of direct shorts will not be in excess of 30% of the portfolio. Leverage generally shall not exceed 30% of net asset value of the option. PM Capital may elect to hedge up to 100% of the foreign currency exposure.

A performance-related fee may apply.
