About IOOF WealthBuilder investment bonds

The IOOF WealthBuilder investment bond is one of the leading investment bonds available today - and it has led the way since 1981.

Not only does it provide investors with a genuine solution for a wide range of investment needs, it also boasts a great range of investment options and product features together with competitive fees.

What is IOOF WealthBuilder?

WealthBuilder is an investment bond for people looking to save or invest for the medium to long-term and provides a unique and simple solution for investment, tax planning and estate planning needs.

WealthBuilder provides access to a range of investment options1, but unlike traditional investment products, such as unit trusts, earnings from the investment bond are taxed in the hands of IOOF, rather than the investor. As a life insurance investment product, WealthBuilder also provides investors with the ability to nominate beneficiaries to receive investment proceeds in the event of death.

Depending on your needs and lifestyle goals, you can use WealthBuilder for a number of purposes, such as:

  • saving for your child's education or for a property purchase
  • planning for that big overseas holiday when you retire or a new car
  • giving your children or grandchildren a financial head start with an investment
  • managing and protecting your finances when you pass away
  • managing your tax more effectively.

Whatever your needs and lifestyle goals, WealthBuilder can help you get there. It can meet the different needs of different people at varying stages of their life - we call it our multi-generational wealth solution.

You can select from a range of investment options, accessing quality investment managers and a mix of asset classes, providing you with flexibility and investment choice.

Who can invest?

WealthBuilder is open to a wide range of investors including:

  • individuals (aged 10 years or more)
  • joint owners (up to three people can jointly own a single WealthBuilder account)
  • organisations, companies and trusts.

How we invest your money

The Fund invests in a range of investments including Australian and international shares and listed property securities and Australian fixed interest securities.

Due to the high growth orientation of the Fund, it is predominantly invested in traditional growth assets such as shares and property, with a minor weighting to defensive fixed interest assets.

The Fund is authorised to utilise approved derivative instruments, subject to the specific restriction that derivative instruments cannot be used to establish asset allocation positions outside the approved ranges or to gear portfolio exposure (see pages 24 and 26 in the PDS for further information on derivatives).

When used for investment purposes, no more than 30% of the Fund can be exposed to derivative instruments as determined by their market equivalent exposure.

The Fund does not hedge against foreign exchange movements, although the underlying IOOF group unit trusts in which the Fund invests may do so.
