About the Fund
The Trust seeks to invest in sustainable companies that have the capacity to make a positive impact on society in areas of economic, environmental and social development.
Specifically, the fund will target companies which contribute toward the advancement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda, have strong ESG characteristics and display appealing investment characteristics.
The Trust aims to achieve returns (after costs but before fees and taxes) that exceed the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index, over periods of three to five years or more.
The investment process
Alphinity's investment process seeks to identify sustainable companies that contribute towards the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), have strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) characteristics and display appealing investment characteristics.
Alphinity employs negative screens* to exclude companies exposed to a relatively small number of specific activities and positive screens* to identify companies that contribute towards the advancement of the UNSDG agenda and rank well on ESG metrics.
*Negative and positive screens - to screen' a portfolio is to apply selection criteria in order to determine whether a company is suitable for investment.
The Trust may invest in derivatives, including futures, options, warrants and swaps to gain exposure to investment markets and to manage risks associated with market price, interest rate and currency fluctuations.
Labour standards and environmental, social and ethical (ESG) considerations
We undertake a formal assessment of each underlying investment manager’s approach to the integration of ESG matters when assessing, selecting and monitoring investment manager(s) and actively encourage these managers to employ and enhance, where appropriate, their ESG integration practices.
We may change the Trust’s investments, objectives, strategies, the investment manager(s), asset allocation(s) and ranges (including by adding or removing asset classes) at any time without giving prior notice. We will notify you (or your Service Operator if you are an indirect investor) of any changes we consider to be material in accordance with our continuous disclosure obligations
